Akupunktur

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a proven healing method from China that has been used for thousands of years, in which fine metal needles are placed at specific points on the body. These points, also known as acupuncture points, are located along meridians through which, according to Chinese belief, the life energy of the human, called Qi, flows. By stimulating these points with needles, the flow of energy can be regulated effectively, which can lead to relief of symptoms.

There are now numerous scientific studies that demonstrate that acupuncture points are not randomly chosen body locations, but can be clearly distinguished from their surroundings on the skin.

The World Health Organization (WHO¹) has published a list of indications for which acupuncture is considered an effective treatment method. This list includes a variety of diseases and symptoms where acupuncture can be used as a supportive therapy.

Some examples of indications for which acupuncture is recommended include:

  • Conditions such as menstrual pain, headaches, migraines, toothaches, back pain, arthritis or tennis elbow
  • Digestive issues or gastrointestinal complaints such as heartburn, reflux, nausea, vomiting, irritable bowel syndrome and constipation
  • Stress and mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, and sleep disorders
  • Allergic conditions such as hay fever and asthma
  • Smoking cessation or the treatment of alcohol and drug addiction
  • Menstrual cycle disorders, menopausal syndrome, fertility issues and birth

For children, adolescents, or individuals with a fear of needles, I offer non-invasive acupuncture using Teishin tools. These small rods made of silver, gold, or copper are simply held against the acupuncture points and can still produce a deeply felt effect.

In addition to traditional acupuncture, there are other Chinese medicine techniques that I use in my practice in Friedenau. This includes the NADA protocol in the ear, where specific points in the ear are stimulated with detox needles to promote relaxation, stress reduction, and better sleep. Moxibustion, where dried mugwort is burned over acupuncture points, as well as cupping, where cups are placed on the skin and a vacuum is created, are also commonly used.

All of these techniques complement and expand the range of treatment options I offer, allowing for individualized adaptation to the needs of my patients.

¹The WHO list of indications for acupuncture is based on anecdotal evidence rather than meta-analyses or randomized double-blind studies, as is common with established medical treatment methods. It is important to emphasize that the effectiveness of acupuncture can vary from case to case and that treatment success is not guaranteed. Evidence-based medicine is an ongoing process, and further research and studies are needed to scientifically establish the effectiveness of acupuncture in various indications. However, there is already a growing number of studies showing positive results for certain applications of acupuncture.

Pflanzenheilkunde

Phytotherapy

Also known as herbal medicine, phytotherapy is an alternative medical practice where plants and their components are used for the prevention and treatment of diseases. The knowledge of the healing properties of herbs has been utilized by various cultures in the East and West for centuries. It is gratifying to see that nature often provides us with many alternative treatment options.

In herbal medicine, various parts of plants or trees are used, such as leaves, flowers, roots, or bark. These parts contain a variety of bioactive substances like essential oils, flavonoids, tannins, bitter substances, coumarins, saponins, mucilages, glycosides, or alkaloids that possess certain health-promoting properties. In women's health, numerous plants have proven to be highly effective and offer natural support for various ailments. From menstrual pain to hormonal imbalances to menopausal symptoms - the diversity of medicinal plants allows for targeted approaches to individual needs.

Some plants have a calming effect and can help with stress, anxiety, or sleep disorders. Others have a regulatory effect on hormone balance and can provide relief for menstrual cycle disorders or PMS symptoms. Additionally, there are plants that have anti-inflammatory properties and can be used supportively in infections.

The following methods of herbal medicine are used in my practice:

In gemmotherapy, embryonic plant tissue from buds, roots, or young shoots is used. This tissue has a higher cell division activity and a significantly higher concentration of active ingredients than mature plants.

Gemmotherapy uses gemmomacerates, which contain a high concentration of plant growth factors, enzymes, hormones, and other bioactive substances. These extracts are used in gemmotherapy to stimulate the body's self-healing abilities and treat various health issues.

It has a wide range of applications, including the treatment of inflammation, infections, digestive issues, allergies, skin conditions, as well as hormonal and emotional imbalances. Gemmotherapy remedies can be taken in the form of drops or sprays.

Plant extracts for natural support

Tinctures contain highly concentrated active ingredients extracted from plants using alcohol. These can be easily dosed and consumed, making them a convenient option.

Tea blends, on the other hand, are made by pouring hot water over dried plant parts and letting them steep for a certain period of time. This allows the active ingredients of the plants to be released and transferred into the tea. However, teas require a bit more effort in preparation and need to be consumed regularly to fully experience their effects.

The choice between tinctures and tea blends depends on various factors: individual preferences, alcohol tolerance, or the available time commitment. Both forms have their advantages and are used and adjusted by me according to your needs and situation.

The healing power of mushrooms

Mycotherapy is based on the use of non-toxic mushrooms for therapeutic and health-promoting purposes. In traditional Chinese medicine, mushrooms have been used for thousands of years to treat various illnesses. In recent decades, modern science has begun to explore the potential of these mushrooms more closely. Numerous bioactive substances have been identified in the mushrooms that can have a positive impact on health. These substances include polysaccharides, adaptogens, beta-D-glucans, triterpenes, steroids and phenols, as well as polyphenols and D-mannitol.

The use of medicinal mushrooms can, for example, help strengthen the immune system, inhibit inflammation, regulate blood sugar levels, increase stress tolerance, or lower cholesterol levels.

Modern mycotherapy includes various forms of application, including the intake of mushroom powder or extracts as dietary supplements and the external application of mushroom ointments or creams. In my practice, I select from a variety of 15 specific mushroom species those that have an optimal match with the symptoms present. Commonly used mushrooms include Reishi, Hericium, Pleurotus, Coriolus, Shiitake, Auricularia, Coprinus, Agaricus Blazei Murill (ABM), Champignon, Chaga, or Cordyceps.

Naturheilverfahren

Natural healing methods

Natural healing methods are alternative medical approaches that are based on natural methods and substances to promote health and treat diseases. They aim to support the body in its natural healing process and restore the balance of body, mind, and soul.

When choosing the right therapy, it is important to note that not everyone benefits equally from the same method. Often, the best results are achieved through a combination of different therapies, as they can complement each other and create synergistic effects.

Together we will discover which method suits you best. I will always take your individual preferences and dislikes into account to find an optimal and personalized solution for you.

Diagnosis and Treatment of Nutrient Imbalances for Your Optimal Health

Orthomolecular medicine is based on the concept that optimal nutrition of your body with essential nutrients leads to better health. I employ various diagnostic methods to identify and address the underlying causes of imbalances in your body. These include blood tests, stool and urine analyses, as well as specialized tests to identify food intolerances or allergies.

An increased need for micronutrients can be caused by various factors. An unbalanced diet, environmental stressors, chronic inflammation, exposure to toxins, and stress can lead to insufficient nutrient supply in your body. This can result in deficiencies that may cause further health issues.

Micronutrient therapy aims to address these deficiencies and provide your body with the right nutrients. This can be achieved through the intake of supplements, injections, and infusions, or by adjusting your diet. It is particularly important to consider your individual circumstances and any potential interactions with other medications during this process.

Gentle Acupressure with essential oils

One of my favorite methods is Aroma Point Therapy, developed by Tiffany Carole and Peter Holmes. In this technique, essential oils are applied gently and without pressure to specific acupuncture points and held for a few minutes. This achieves a gentle stimulation that harmonizes and supports the energy flow in the body. A significant advantage of this therapy is that the specific effects of the essential oils are combined with the indications of acupuncture, while also stimulating the sense of smell and the limbic system.

Essential oils possess a variety of healing properties and can alleviate both physical and emotional complaints. Depending on which oils are used, they can have calming, anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, or mood-enhancing effects. I carefully select all oils, dilute them to ensure complete safety and prevent skin reactions, and source them exclusively from high-quality and sustainable producers such as Maienfelser Naturkosmetik, Oshadi, Monara, Blue Dolphin, and Snow Lotus.

Aroma Point Therapy thus offers a holistic treatment approach that considers both the physical and emotional aspects of an illness, and I often use it as a complement to traditional acupuncture.

Harmonizing the mind with Bach Flower Essences

Bach flower remedies are a gentle healing method developed over 90 years ago by Dr. Edward Bach. As an English physician, bacteriologist, and homeopath, he sought a holistic therapy to support the self-healing powers of the body and soul. His approach was to treat the personality rather than just the illness itself. Through careful observation of his patients, he discovered 38 plants and trees in nature that correspond to individual personality traits, reactions to illness, and moods.

He believed that factors such as worries, stress, depression, difficult life situations, or negative emotional states could weaken the body's defenses - an idea also shared by the relatively young field of psychoneuroimmunology as an interdisciplinary science.

The use of these flower essences can help individuals adapt more easily to new life circumstances and find a sense of inner stability and balance. In cases of learning difficulties, exam anxiety, and general anxiety disorders, Bach flower remedies can help strengthen self-confidence and promote a calmer state of mind.

From the flower essences, I select those that best match your concerns and create a personalized formulation tailored to your specific needs and challenges.

Alchemical Herbal Medicine

Spagyrics is a specialized form of herbal medicine based on the principles of alchemy. The term "spagyrics" comes from Greek, combining "spao" (to separate, dissolve, or divide) and "ageiro" (to unite or bind). This method was developed in the 16th century by the Swiss physician Paracelsus and further refined by Carl-Friedrich Zimpel and Alexander von Bernus, incorporating various alchemical techniques such as fermentation, distillation, and calcination.

Spagyrics is often administered in the form of drops or globules for oral intake and covers a wide range of applications. It can be used for digestive issues such as gastrointestinal discomfort, bloating, or heartburn. Additionally, spagyrics can provide support for stress and sleep disturbances, contributing to relaxation.

Furthermore, spagyrics is also utilized for menstrual complaints to help regulate bleeding or alleviate cramps, mood swings, and pain. During transitional phases such as puberty or menopause, spagyrics can have a regulating and harmonizing effect as well. This holistic approach aims to balance both physical and emotional aspects of health through the unique properties of plant-based remedies.

Homoeopathy is an alternative medical practice based on the principle of similarity. It operates on the idea that a substance causing certain symptoms in a healthy person can, in very diluted form, treat diseases that produce similar symptoms. Homeopathic remedies are prepared through repeated dilution and succussion (vigorous shaking) and are intended to stimulate the body’s self-healing abilities.

In my training at the Samuel Hahnemann School, I learned Process-Oriented Homeopathy under Andreas Krüger, Sara Riedel, and Ulrike Müller, which can provide special support during processes of change. This approach can be applied to a wide range of complaints, including colds, allergies, digestive issues, and emotional imbalances. Homeopathic treatment is individualized based on your specific symptoms and the entirety of your being.

Anthroposophical medicine is based on a similarly holistic view of humanity. It considers not only the physical symptoms of an illness but also the emotional and spiritual aspects. This allows for the recognition and targeted treatment of underlying causes of a condition. Typically, herbal medicines, homeopathic remedies, and often mineral-based substances are used in this approach.

Both homeopathy and anthroposophical medicine emphasize treating the whole person rather than just addressing isolated symptoms, aiming for a deeper understanding of health and well-being.

Infusionstherapie

IV-Therapy

An effective method for targeted treatment of nutrient deficiencies and prevention

By delivering essential nutrients directly into the bloodstream, IV-therapy allows for a high concentration of active ingredients, enabling the body to quickly benefit from their positive effects. This approach is particularly advantageous in cases of autoimmune diseases, chronic inflammation, detoxification disorders or deficiency states.

One of the key benefits of IV-therapy is that it bypasses the digestive system, allowing nutrients to be delivered directly to the organism. This means that deficiencies can be addressed rapidly without the risk of significant loss through the gastrointestinal tract. This is especially crucial when the gut is compromised due to certain conditions and cannot adequately absorb nutrients from orally ingested supplements.

High-dose infusions with vitamin C, electrolytes, amino acids, B vitamins, right-handed lactic acid, glutathione, choline citrate, or curcumin are a significant support and effective treatment method in the therapy of various conditions. Infusion therapy is an individualized treatment approach that must be tailored to the specific needs and health status of the patient. It can serve as a valuable complement to other therapies and help provide the body with essential nutrients optimally, thereby improving health more rapidly.

In my practice, I work with products from Arnika Apotheke in Unterhaching and Viktoria Apotheke in Saarbrücken. These pharmacies have extensive experience in the preparation of infusions.

Choline citrate infusion targets the autonomic nervous system, which cannot be consciously controlled. This system is regulated by the balance between the sympathetic nervous system and its counterpart, the parasympathetic nervous system. When there is prolonged stress without adequate compensation, the interaction between the activating sympathetic and the relaxing parasympathetic systems can become permanently disrupted.

If there is a dysfunction in the autonomic nervous system, vital bodily functions such as heart rate, breathing, digestion, and metabolism can be significantly impaired and altered. The active ingredient choline citrate can activate the parasympathetic nervous system so strongly within seconds that it counteracts the sympathetic response, thereby restoring the connection between both components. Typically, only a few infusions are needed to achieve long-term success in re-establishing this balance.

Possible indications are:

Stressreaktionen

Kopfschmerzen und Migräne

Muskelverspannungen und Rückenschmerzen

Konzentrations- und Gedächtnisprobleme

Vitamin C is an important vitamin for our body and can be taken in two different ways: through the consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables or through an infusion, where the vitamin is delivered directly into the bloodstream.

When Vitamin C is ingested through food, it is absorbed into the body via the intestines. However, the intestines can only absorb a limited amount of Vitamin C each day.

Vitamin C has been shown to stimulate the production of collagen in the body, boost immune defense, and can help prevent infections. Additionally, it accelerates the breakdown of histamine. It may help reduce inflammation and improve the course of diseases. During stressful times, the body can produce more free radicals, which can lead to oxidative stress. As a strong antioxidant, Vitamin C can help neutralize these free radicals and protect the body from the harmful effects of stress.

As a powerful antioxidant that can protect the skin from harmful free radicals, it may contribute to improving skin elasticity, reducing wrinkles, and promoting a fresh complexion. Vitamin C is involved in energy production and can provide support in cases of chronic fatigue or exhaustion. A Vitamin C infusion can help improve energy levels in the body and increase vitality. Typically, 7.5 g to 25 g are administered during an infusion.

Curcumin is derived from the yellow root "Curcuma longa" and has a wide range of preventive and therapeutic significance. It can be a valuable addition to existing therapies for inflammatory processes, gastrointestinal, skin, neurodegenerative, cardiovascular, and metabolic diseases.

It can be used as an adjunct therapy for ulcerative colitis to achieve and maintain remission. This is also recommended in the current guidelines for ulcerative colitis. Due to its strong anti-inflammatory properties, it can help reduce inflammation in patients with Crohn's disease and endometriosis.

In Ayurveda, turmeric is used for chronic skin conditions because of its strong antiseptic effects. Curcumin has been the subject of clinical research for years, and there is extensive data on its use in various diseases. An infusion with 250 mg of curcumin should be administered quite slowly. Therefore, you should plan about two to three hours for this.

.Alpha-lipoic acid is a natural substance that can help your body regenerate from the inside out. One of the main functions of alpha-lipoic acid is its strong antioxidant effect. It can neutralize free radicals, thereby reducing cell damage caused by oxidative stress. This is particularly important for your brain and nerve tissue, as these tissues are especially vulnerable to oxidative stress and can accumulate heavy metals, which may lead to neurological problems.

Alpha-lipoic acid acts as a natural chelator, meaning it can bind heavy metals such as mercury, lead, and arsenic and remove them from your body. This can positively influence your cognitive performance and memory. Another important function of alpha-lipoic acid is its ability to regenerate other antioxidants like vitamin C, vitamin E, Q10, and glutathione. These antioxidants are consumed during the process of neutralizing free radicals. However, alpha-lipoic acid can restore them and thereby enhancing their antioxidant effects.

Alpha-lipoic acid is commonly used in the treatment of diabetes, liver diseases, and neuropathic pain, as well as in the prevention of strokes due to its potential to improve blood microcirculation.

Alpha-lipoic acid can support:

den Energiestoffwechsel zu verbessern

Entzündungen zu reduzieren

den Schutz vor freien Radikalen zu erhöhen

die geistige Leistungsfähigkeit und das Gedächtnis positiv zu beeinflussen

Patient information

Do you have any questions?

If you would like a consultation regarding the therapy process or treatment options in advance, please feel free to schedule a complimentary phone call ("Kostenloses Kennenlerngespräch"). Please note that this conversation will not include any therapeutic advice and is solely for us to get to know each other. The maximum duration of this initial consultation is 15 minutes.

To get the most accurate overview of all relevant information, I take a lot of time for you in our initial session. Please plan for approximately two hours for this.

The more detailed you describe your symptoms to me, the better I can make a possible diagnosis. This includes things like the type and duration of your discomfort, possible triggers or accompanying circumstances, any pre-existing conditions or medications you are taking, as well as family history of illnesses.

Following the initial medical history, necessary laboratory tests will be ordered or I will provide you with appropriate test kits for home use.

Please bring the following items to the first appointment:

  • current laboratory results and medical reports (if available)
  • vaccination record
  • a list of your medication and dietary supplements

Based on the initial assessment and the laboratory tests ordered, I will create a detailed treatment plan for you. We will go through the results and the exact implementation of your treatment plan step by steht at the follow-up appointment. You can then ask me any questions you have about it.

Cost: 160€ for the initial assessment (fixed price)

          40 - 80 € for follow-up appointments (20 € for each started quarter hour)

Extensive laboratory parameters from blood, urine, stool and saliva can be used to detect not only organic but also functional disorders in humans.

To conduct a comprehensive assessment of your health status and the functioning of the affected organs, I examine blood values that often go far beyond the usual parameters of a general practitioner. I do not just look at the individual abnormal values, but rather consider the interaction of all collected values.

The following laboratory diagnostics are frequently used in my practice:

  • whole blood mineral analysis with determination of micronutrients and vitamins
  • metabolic profile
  • measurement of hormones in saliva
  • cortisol daily profile
  • stool diagnostics
  • urine tests

We will determine the exact scope of laboratory diagnostics together and I will provide you with detailed information on the associated costs in advance. Saliva tests, stool samples and urine tests will be collected by you at home and sent directly to the laboratory in a pre-addressed envelope. You will receive the necessary materials with precise instructions directly from me at the practice.
